Clumsy invaders from Neptune are thwarted by hero Space Chief and a nondescript group of microshort-wearing Japanese kids.

Invasion of the Neptune Men (1961) is a tokusatsu superhero film starring a then 22-year old Sonny Chiba as the intergalactic superhero Iron-Sharp (who’s dressed in silver tights, helmet, cape, carries a ray gun and rides a car-like rocketship). Invaders from the planet Neptune, who look like klutzy guys in helmets that resemble overturned garbage cans, attack Earth. Their first contact is witnessed by a group of children who manage to be both obnoxiously cute and aggressive at the same time, but they’re rescued by the sudden arrival of a mysterious hero from outer space. Referred to as Space Chief in the English-dubbed version, and Ironsharp in the original Japanese, he flies in a jet-powered car that sort of rattles around like an airborne hot-rod. We never find out anything about him; the children identify him as a hero and are in the film to cheer him on whenever he appears, and he always arrives to pull our fat out of the fire.

Starman, a chrome-plated super-being, defends Earth against the evil Sapphire Galaxy

Attack from Space (1959) is a Japanese superhero movie based on the serial Super Giant. The superhero Starman is sent by the Emerald Planet to protect Earth from belligerent aliens from the Sapphire Galaxy. The Sapphireans (or “Spherions”) kidnap Dr. Yamanaka and force him to use his spaceship against the Earth. When Starman arrives on Earth, he discovers the conspiracy and must root out the traitors and also stop the impending alien invasion.
