Strix Vega
“Next time you plan to end up lying on your back on a summer’s evening, a little tiddly, watching the stars twinkle and roll through your hazy vision, plan to have Strix Vega’s new album with you. After about a minute of second track “Tides” has passed, the album title makes perfect sense. The guitar playing is woozy and loose, with just the right amount of bluesy embellishment… virtually every song on this atmospheric collection has a similarly affecting vibe, as well as the length and development of a genuine live performance. Highlight “Luck Runs Dry” features a wistful chorus straight out of Ian Brown’s solo catalogue and a simple blues riff borrowed from either Zeppelin or Floyd…Strix Vega are a fine “drunken” blues-rock band who know their strengths and have succeeded in charming the US West Coast with their raw and wistful take on a tired genre. Remember to pack their album for festival season – you never know when you’ll need it.” –Chris McCague of Tasty Fanzine, UK “I love the fact that these guys have the confidence to put their wonderful melodies to tape without feeling the need to overproduce and add unnecessary sheen…The music matches the intensity of the emotions. Excellent.” –Richard Soos of Eartaste.com

Drifter Killer
Drifter Killer is a Rock n’ Roll band that resides in the sleepy Redwoods of Northern California. It’s four members create a volatile mixture of high energy Rock n’ Roll, which is injected with doses of psychedelic trips gone wrong, Death Valley at dawn, drag races at night, and drug deals gone right… “My engine’s purring like your kitty with fuel injection… Its a 427, chrome steel erection… The bars are all closed, now it’s time to rally… I’ll meet you at the end of Camaro Alley… There’s a blood-thirsty mob, and the pigs retreat… Hop on in, Sugar, before I melt the street… Let the screams erupt across Death Valley… When our clutches are popped through Camaro Alley…”

Side Iron
Side Iron! Oh, my. Oh, my. Where to begin? I haven’t heard a lot about this band and apparently this was only their third show, so that isn’t very surprising, but being that it is three quarters Que la Chinga and one spoonful of The Hitch,” “I can’t believe that there isn’t more hype. From the first song, the audience was transported into the most rocking of spaghetti westerns. It was all there. Whiskey, women, revenge and the general malaise that recalls giant tumbleweeds and stumbling cowboys. It was an obvious hit as the audience grew closer to the stage and welcomed these loving sounds with favor. This is fun music, plain and simple. With throat-ripping growls over the merging twang of the steel guitar, impressive percussion and infectious guitar riffs that craftily united C&W with rock, it became absolutely impossible not to be overtaken with the energy put into every song. Suffice to say that this show made a few fans for these guys… Go see these guys. Period.” Written by Dan Lewis

Splinter Cell
It’s fun punk rock with a sense of humor! James, Sean, and Jeff have been playing music together for about 3 years, first in Henpecker, an irreverent war/Bush protest band, and very briefly in Artifacts of Pleasure. Now this team forms the nucleus of Splinter Cell, a fun new rock band based in Humboldt County, California. Splinter Cell features original songs, and with 3 song writers, no two songs sound much alike. Their new CD, “Will You Be My Friend?” on Meth Bog Records is available now at shows and record stores in Northern Humboldt!

Indianola
Indianola is a sensational new rock band out of Humboldt County California made up of three handsome musicians/friends that have known each other since childhood. With each member bringing different styles and influences to the band, the music is exciting and has a mix of heavy riffs and melodic guitar that will surely make you nod yo head and it could possibly even rock yo face off.
