David Jaberi
David Jaberi’s debut Vinyl release is a 12″ single record double album. On one side is the 2007′s “Arcata.” Hailed by friends and fans as a turn around record, Arcata can be marked as the beginning of David’s entrance onto a larger plain of artistic expression and is a must for anyone who loves his music. On the opposite side is the epic and landmark “JOON.” This is the album that will bring David Jaberi the attention he deserves. The message, the sound, and the creativity that make David some one to pay attention to are all present and at their finest on this, his latest effort. David’s band Peace Season will take the stage for a fond farewell to Humboldt County

thelittlestillnotbigenough
thelittlestillnotbigenough is a concept, like a burning light which is kindled in the solar-plexus of each of our tumultuous ensemble. those of us who huddle together to create sound in unison become the “band” and by doing so we vibrate as one. yet those who prefer to go alone are sadly wished “farewell!” and set free. we continue to be an ever-expanding, ever-rotating cast of ghosts, brought together by an insatiable desire to make music in a dangerously dynamic and constantly creative aether-realm. “Snobbish individuals could draw comparisons to the work of indie-mainstays such as Animal Collective or The Books, but that would be to undermine the fact that both live and recorded, tlsnbe sound largely unlike anything else currently on the market…entirely poetic, wholly insightful, and hellishly absurd.” –Juliana Boggs

Manilapede
What happens when you live in a low population town in Humboldt county, like to play rock music, and also enjoy the presence of creepy crawlers? You get Humboldt County’s heaviest dune metal band Manilapede! What happens when you take your band to the max, and start creating a fanzine? You get Peninsula Jive, the official Manilapede Fanzine. I was just as confused as you. Isn’t Manila in the Philippines? No, not this time. Reading through I got a strong sense of hometown patriotism. Every page is backdrop or photo of the rolling dunes of Manila. It also doubles as a ransom note, as all the text is pasted into each page with reckless abandon! I have to give it to these fine young fellows. They know how to relax, and they know how to enjoy home. Sending a little piece of that off in the mail for city folk like us shouldn’t be underestimated. At the same time, I’ve never been one of the “crunchy” hippie types, so some of it is lost on me, but I have to hand it to them for the effort. -Nikolaus Bartunek, Ashcan Magazine
Medicine Ball is a newer local experimental world folk acoustic band comprising of percussion, banjo, shakers, kazoo, violin, washtub bass and the sweetest personalities this side of the Mississippi. Plus they have a 1 year old in the band.
