Immortal Technique

Immortal Technique

Born in a military hospital in South America, Immortal Technique was brought to the United States in the early 80’s while a civil war was breaking out in his native Peru. The US supported puppet democracy and Guerilla factions were locked in a bitter struggle which ended like most do in Latin America, with the military and economic aid of the State Dept. through channels like the CIA. Although he had escaped the belligerent poverty and social turmoil of life in the 3rd world, he was now residing in Harlem which had its own share of drama. Growing up on the streets of New York, the young man became enamored with Hip Hop culture, writing graffiti and starting to rhyme at an early age. Although he frequently cut school and ended up being arrested time and time again for his wild behavior, the kid still managed to finish high school and got accepted to a state university. Unfortunately the survivalist and aggressive attitude that was the norm in New York City caused him to be involved in more violent altercations at school, whether it was with other brothers, false flaggers or the relentlessly racist population of an uncultured Middle America. “I live and breathe Revolution, Rebellion is in my blood and HipHop is the heart that pumps it. The fight has brought us to many places but with the completion of this weapon of mine I am building it will take us to even more places. Harlem and Washington Heights is home for now, but the Earth is my turf and I’ll be out there fighting soon.”

Swave Sevah

Swave Sevah

Swave Sevah aka Swavy Krokett aka The Spitist, aka Anakyn Highwalker. Call him what you want, but once you hear this NYC native’s unmistakeable baritone and clever verses, you won’t forget him. Born and raised in Harlem, Swave started spitting rhymes at the age of 9. He studied martial arts and earned black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan. As a young man, he dreamed of someday making it to the NBA, but that faded as his passion and talent for music grew. “Hip hop swallowed me whole,” he says. Now Swave is one-third of the hip-hop group CVEES, who released their debut single “The Jump Off” in July of 2003. He also is a member of the underground wrecking crew Stronghold. Swave’s gravelly freestyling won the world famous End of the Weak MC Challenge ..20, and along with rap partner-in-crime IkeP, Swave won the spitboxing tag-team battle at Club Pyramid.

Poison Pen

Poison Pen

Rhyming is an art form. Just like painting, dancing and hustling. If you don’t know the techniques of the genre you can easily be swept off your feet. Enter Hip Hop staple, Poison Pen, a battle MC turned street prophet. The Brooklynite started in 1996 at the first online radio station 88HipHop.com, before tearing through the streets as the undefeated champ of the NYC MC battle circuit. After participating in the Blaze Battle, Pen decided to retire in 1999 and later host the most popular lyricist competition to date, Da Cypha Emcee Battles featured throughout NYC including special showcases at Kevin Powell & Russell Simmons’ Hip Hop Speaks. It was hunger, not chance, that brought Poison Pen to the forefront. Founder of indie rap clique Stronghold, members including Breez Evaflowin’ C Rayz Walz, Immortal Technique and DJ Static before the group released the acclaimed mixtape Stronghold Volume 1. The result was a classic collaboration. “As far as the recording, I don’t do Pro Tools rap. I don’t do that record & send it out to a nigga I don’t know have him email me a verse back… Naw, I don’t make music like that.”

Diabolic

Diabolic

Growing up in Huntington Station, Diabolic never really aspired to become a “rapper” for a living and stumbled across this hiphop shit. Diobolic made a name for himself in the NYC underground battles and bodied everyonein his way. So here is Diabolic; broke, still scraping to get by, still fighting for a spot in this rap shit, but being recognized for what he brings to the table and is set to drop his masterpiece. He’ll never stop this shit, he’ll never give in to the corporate influences that tell him to make music that isn’t real, that doesn’t come from hte soul. He’ll always remain a madman with a platform.
